Batti tops Dengue list for 2021

The highest number of dengue patients recorded this year was reported from the Batticaloa District, as stated in the data of the Epidemiology Unit.

As recorded, 67 per cent of total dengue patients in Sri Lanka were reported from the Batticaloa District.

The Epidemiology Unit said 554 dengue patients have been reported from several Districts in the country from 1 January to 12 January.

Thus, the highest number of 372 patients has been reported from the Batticaloa District while the second highest number of 56 patients has been reported from the Colombo District.

In addition, 21 patients have been reported from the Kandy District, 18 from the Gampaha District, and 14 from the Kurunegala District. In addition 11 patients each are reported from the Jaffna, Puttalam, and Kalmunai Districts.

Last year 30,841 dengue patients were reported Island wide and the highest number of 4,241 dengue patients was reported from the Colombo District. Last year  the second highest number of patients was reported from the Batticaloa district at 3,608.

The number of dengue patients reported last year was lower than in other years and it was also the lowest number of dengue patients reported in five years.
