ACMC Leader and Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has directed a letter to the Elections Commission with regard to the registration of displaced voters in their places of origin.
He alleges that the names of 7,727 residents of the original villages in the Northern Province have been removed from the electoral list. Bathiudeen has requested the Elections Commissioner to take the necessary steps to register people who were displaced by the conflict.
The letter also points out that their fundamental rights have also been violated due to Elections Officials removing their names from registered documents at the time of the Parliamentary Election.
