Ayurvedic doctors treating COVID-19 patients: Govt turning blind eye – GAMOA
By Buddhika Samaraweera
The Government Ayurvedic Medical Officers’ Association (GAMOA) pointed out that although the Ayurvedic doctors should be given the opportunity to treat COVID-19 patients, neither the Government nor the relevant authorities have paid attention regarding the matter so far. A member of the GAMOA said Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and other health officials had been informed about this on several occasions.
He said especially last year, Ayurvedic and Indigenous doctors from all over the country provided samples of medicines they introduced for the COVID-19 virus to the Health Minister.
However, he added that no response has been received so far. Although the Ayurvedic Medical Council also comes under the Ministry of Health, there has been no response to the requests made to provide us with an opportunity to treat COVID-19 infected patients, he added.
