Australian Gelegation calls on SLCG Chief
Australian Border Force’s (ABF’s) First Secretary Inspector Brett Zehnder and ABF Coordinator Shashika Perera met Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Director General Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake, Director Training Captain Athula Jayaweera and Commanding Officer ‘SLCG Waruna’ Captain I.H.J. Buddhika in Colombo recently, SLCG said. ABF is an Australian Government body.
Brett sought possible training opportunities to improve SLCG’s professional standards. He principally agreed to provide further training development assistance in capacity improvement and infrastructure development of SLCG and also in attracting more training opportunities with global maritime law enforcement and maritime environmental protection agencies, said SLCG.
Ekanayake conveyed his appreciation of the long-term training assistance extended by the Australian Government and ABF for capacity improvement and infrastructure development of the SLCG. He also expressed that SLCG would like to exchange training expertise and experience on law enforcement activities and counter smuggling with ABF. The meeting culminated with an exchange of mementoes.
