Australian Climate Action Plan to provide benefits – Actg Aussie Envoy

The Acting High Commissioner for Australia in Sri Lanka, Amanda Jewell said the Australian Climate Action Plan will provide the same benefits to Sri Lanka as it does to other countries. Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment and the Acting High Commissioner recently met at the Ministry of Environment. The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) will be held in Glasgow next month, and the preparations of the Governments of Sri Lanka and Australia for the Summit as well as ideas the two nations would discuss at the Summit, were discussed.
According to the Secretary, Sri Lanka will send a high-level technical delegation to the COP-26 Summit, since Sri Lanka has the lowest levels of greenhouse gas emissions in the world. Dr. Jasinghe, on the other hand said the action taken by the rest of the world to make a valuable contribution to the programme to limit global warming were outlined. According to the Acting High Commissioner, Sri Lanka would benefit from the Australian Government’s Climate Action Plan, which is being implemented in conjunction with other countries. She discussed the Australian government’s Climate Action Plan and the international collaboration it provides to the rest of the globe. Dr. Jasinghe also urged the Australian government to support Sri Lanka’s efforts to minimise and adapt to greenhouse gas emissions.
