The Auditor General’s Department (AGD) said promotions have not been forthcoming to Government audit officials since 2006.
Sources from the AGD said, though a service constitution, had been formulated based on the 06/2006 Circular to grant promotions to State sector workers. The perceived delay in granting them had been due to Cabinet approval not being received on time for the service constitution.
According to these sources due to the delay in granting promotions, during the past 14-year period, majority of workers at the AGD are feeling dejected and are displeased with their service not being recognised duly by the State.
Presently 1200 personnel are attached to the AGD with vacancies not being filled up during the said period for crucial posts.
