Atmospheric disturbance to cause heavy rains
The Met Department expects heavy rains to occur in several provinces due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance.
Located to the south-east of Sri Lanka, the atmospheric disturbance is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area in the next 24 hours.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards later.
Heavy showers of more than 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Eastern, North-Central and Uva provinces and in the Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Matale districts.
Fairly heavy showers of more than 75 mm can be expected at some places elsewhere.
