Arugam Bay, the best tourist attraction in the East, which has been deserted over the past two years owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, is to celebrate World Tourism Day today (27) under very strict health guidelines, supervised by the Pottuvil MOH.

The Chamber of Tourism and Industry, along with the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation, is making all arrangements to celebrate World Tourism Day at the auditorium of the Blue Wave Hotel, Arugam Bay.

Providing gift packages to tourists presently staying in Arugam Bay in appreciation of their decision to visit the country during the COVID pandemic would be the highlight of the celebration.

Felicitating the Grama Niladharis in the area with a certificate of appreciation for their unstinted support to the health authorities in the area during the pandemic, issuing relief packages to threewheeler drivers and hotel employees in the area who are hard-hit by the pandemic are also on the cards according to President of the Chamber of Tourism and Industry A.M. Jaufer. Jaufer said he has extended an invitation to Parliamentarians of the District, the Government Agent, and officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
