Arjuna Ranatunga bids UNP goodbye
Former Member of Parliament Arjuna Ranatunga has decided to resign from the United National Party (UNP).
In a letter to Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ranatunga attributed his decision to the fact that the party showed no promise of a sustainable future or any such plans.
A disheartened Ranatunga said he remained in the UNP this long in the hope of such plans being established, so as to aid the party to steer clear through the challenges they are forced to face.
He said however his attempts to unite those within the party had failed.
Unity is the foundation of victory not only in cricket, but also in the daily lives of people, the former cricket captain stated.
Despite his decision to leave the UNP, Ranatunga commended former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for his leadership skills that were displayed for the good of the country.
