April insurrection 50th commemoration today

The 50th commemoration of the 1971 April insurrection falls today (5).  The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has made arrangements to organise hero commemorations on behalf of those who sacrificed their lives during that struggle in the districts of Hambantota, Gampaha, Polonnaruwa and Kurunegala. 

Accordingly, the commemorative functions will be held under the patronage of JVP leaders in the relevant districts today (5) at 3.30 p.m. and Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake will deliver a speech at the Hingurakgoda Youth Assembly Hall auditorium.
