Schools in the western province to reopen in February

The Ministry of Education states that they hope to reopen schools in the Western Province by 15th February.
Secretary to the Ministry of Education Professor Kapila Perera said that discussions between principals, education officials, and health officials regarding the reopening of schools in Western Province will be held between the 28th of January and the 1st of February.
The agreements discussed will be sent across to the Ministry of Education by 10 February and upon receiving approval from the Director-General of Health Services, approved schools could be able to open by February 15th.
There are 1,576 schools in 11 zones in the Western Province. Nearly 79,000 students are scheduled to sit for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in March.
