Cabinet grants approval to purchase four helicopters
The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to purchase four helicopters for the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Co-Cabinet Spokesperson Romesh Pathirana stated that the cabinet paper tabled by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa received approval to purchase four helicopters through international bidding.
The Minister stated that decision to purchase new helicopters was taken as the two aircrafts that are currently in use were manufactured in 1981.
The need has risen for these helicopters as the Air Force personnel are required to be trained before being deployed for the United National Peacekeeping Missions.
