First COVID-19 case detected at the Anuradhapura prison
The first inmate infected with the coronavirus at the Anuradhapura Prison was reported yesterday (24).
The inmate, who was remanded a few days ago, was admitted to a quarantine ward for inmates on the 23rd after experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus. Subsequent to being subject to a PCR test, it was revealed that the inmate had contracted the virus.
He was then admitted to the Methsiri Sevana Corona treatment unit and was later shifted to another treatment center.
A group of nearly 60 detainees who were quarantined along with the 46-year-old resident of Mahailluppallama area in Anuradhapura are also due to be subject to PCR tests.
