Anuradhapura Police bust large-scale prostitution racket

The Anuradhapura Crimes Division raided a large-scale prostitution racket yesterday (12) at the Anuradhapura market place.
According to the vendors of the Anuradhapura market, the brothel had been in operation for a significant amount of time, under the guise of a resort for foreigners.
They added that despite the fact that they had informed the relevant authorities multiple times, no further action had been taken until yesterday.
The Police had arrested an individual along with three other women during the raid. It was added that one of the female suspects is seven months pregnant.
According to the Police, the pimp, a resident of Dharmapala Mawatha in the Anuradhapura area, had served five years in prison for several offenses prior to this.
When inspecting the place where the racket took place, two grams and 230 milligrams of heroin, Rs 56,820, and 28 contraception pills were found. Further investigations are being conducted by the Anuradhapura Police.
