Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited (Allianz Lanka), one of Sri Lanka’s leading insurance providers, extended its support to the Negombo District General Hospital (NDGH) with a donation of air conditioning equipment to the hospital’s Blood Bank.

The Negombo District General Hospital is one of the key health care facilities in the Negombo region, serving as the primary healthcare centre for patients in Negombo and the neighbouring suburbs. It also caters to the Bandaranaike International Airport and the Katunayake Free Trade Zone.

The air conditioning units have been installed in the hospital’s Blood Bank which serves over 200 patients and 150 blood donors every week. Air conditioning is essential to helping blood banks maintain the quality of their service. Strengthening the capacity of the Blood Bank, the equipment is set to help the facility deliver greater levels of care and support to its patients and donors.

Gany Subramaniam, Chief Executive Officer, Allianz Insurance, donated the machines to the hospital in the presence of Mangala Bandara, Chief Marketing Officer, Allianz Insurance, Samantha Gunawardena, Assistant General Manager, Market Management, Allianz Insurance, and several other representatives of Allianz Insurance. Dr. Lakshman Edirisinghe, Director, National Blood Transfusion Service, Dr. Nirmala Loganathan, Director, NDGH, Dr. Asha de Alwis, Consultant Transfusion Physician, NDGH; and Dr. Nimesh Pathirane, former Medical Officer In-charge – NDGH Blood Bank were also present.

“We would like to thank Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited for their donation of air conditioning equipment to the Blood Bank at the District General Hospital – Negombo. This donation will give a boost to the Blood Bank’s infrastructure and help us offer better care and support to patients and donors,” said Dr. Asha de Alwis.

“At Allianz, we are committed to upholding our values of caring, integrity, excellence, and respect, and working closely with the communities that we operate in. We look forward to seeing this equipment deliver greater care, support and comfort to the large number of patients and donors visiting the hospital’s blood bank,” said Gany Subramaniam. “Staying true to our purpose, we will continue to work relentlessly to help secure people’s lives and give courage to our customers for what’s ahead,” he added.
