All-out bid to stem COVID-19 spread

The State health service was tasked with monitoring whether economic centres, rented houses, schools and Board of Investment (BoI) zones in the Western Province were complying with health guidelines issued to them due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.
Wanniarachchi had chaired the COVID-19 Prevention Performance Review Task Force. It also focused on increasing the number of beds to treat patients with the Virus and in the emergency medical service, maximising the accuracy of polymerase chain reaction tests, and providing training on COVID-19 emergency medical services to post-internship medical officers.
She has urged the health authorities to ensure that healthcare workers were duly attended to with the fullest attention is given to their wellbeing, transport facilities and accommodation.
The Task Force is made up of medical administrators, Administrative Service officers and specialist physicians.
