All Ceylon Makkal Congress MP Ali Sabri Raheem, said he cast his vote in support of the 20th Amendment, after discussing thoroughly with the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and other organisations.
He claimed that in the 19th Amendment, certain Commissions had been brought under the control of the Prime Minister, thereby reducing the powers of the President, adding that the whole of Sri Lanka knows that it failed.
Raheem added that in the 19th Amendment, the power had been devolved between the President and the Prime Minister, creating a tug-of-war.
I also have the consent of the people in Puttalam, he added.
