Deputy Chief of Staff bids adieu to SLAF
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Andrew Wayne Ediriweera Wijesuriya retired today (24) after completing more than 35 years of service.
He made an official farewell call on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana at his office.
The Commander commended him for the dedicated and distinguished long years of service rendered to the nation and to the Sri Lanka Air Force in particular.
The Commander and the Air Vice Marshal exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.
Afterward, he was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by the SLAF Colour Wing before he departed Air Force Headquarters for the last time.
He joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as an Officer Cadet of the 16th Intake of Officer Cadets on 5 May 1986 and was commissioned in the rank of Pilot Officer on 27 December 1987 in the Technical Engineering Branch.
During his career, he has held a number of Command and Technical Administrative appointments.
Air Vice Marshal Wijesuriya was appointed the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force on 13 July 2021.
