AG files appeal challenging bail for Bond Scam suspects
Attorney General Dappula de Livera has filed an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Trial-at-Bar, to grant bail to the Bond Scam suspects.
Former Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake and six others were granted bail on 01 April by the Trial-at-Bar consisting of Justices Amal Ranaraja, Namal Balalle, and Aditya Patabendige.
The suspects were accused of misappropriating Rs. 15 million with regard to a bond auction in connection with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 2016.
The bench also imposed a foreign travel ban on the accused, and ordered for the case to be taken up on 29 April.
