ADB-funded Vans Distributed to Provinces
In a bid to maintain control and prevent the spread of COVID-19, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, distributed nine vans, worth approximately Rs 90 million, amongst the provinces. An official of the Health Ministry said yesterday (21) that the Project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in a bid to develop the health system in the provinces, was coordinated by the Health Ministry.
The Ministry took steps to provide the vans to the Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya Districts of the Central Province, the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Districts of the North Central Province, Badulla and Moneragala Districts of the Uva Province and Ratnapura and Kegalle Districts of the Sabaragamuwa Province, the Ministry noted. Health Secretary Maj. Gen (Rtd) Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Director General Health Services (DGHS), Dr. Asela Gunawardena, ADB Director of Health Systems Project Improvement, Dr. Anil Dissanayake, were also present on the occasion.
