The All Ceylon Medical Officers Association (ACMOA) said due to the failure of the Epidemiology Unit to submit precise data with regard to the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the number of deaths due to the illness could spike.

He said health authorities had claimed that almost all COVID-19 variants that were found globally could be seen in Sri Lanka as well and noted that furnishing precise data with regard to infections and deaths was vital to tackle the spread. Secretary ACMOA, Dr. Jayantha Bandara said what was currently being seen was only a fluctuating process of the spread of the pandemic and not a scientific control of its spread.
