The All Ceylon Graduate Teachers Union (ACGTU) submitting a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has stated that those clamouring to increase salaries of teachers and principals were those who had not even got through the GCE Ordinary Level or followed any teacher training course. The ACGTU has hence advised the President not to be deceived by the rhetoric of trade unions and to give ear to genuine grievances.

They further charged the issue of teacherprincipal salary anomalies should not be politicised and it should be sorted out for the sake of the future of the students.
