Abdur Rasheed Thangal (Radiyallahu Anhu) was a great saint and his saintliness was seen even when he was a child. He was born in Andhro Island, India. All communities appreciated his good morals. He was a kind-hearted person who guided the people on the correct path.

He rendered yeoman service to the Muslim community as well as to other communities. After seeing his limitless miracles, many Muslims pledged their allegiance (Bai’ath) to him. He could read the minds of people and those who went to see him were surprised by his mind reading ability.

He funded the construction of two Arabic Colleges, namely Jamiya Ghouziyya Arabic College, Dehiwala and Minhajiya Arabic College, Batupitiya. Most of the Moulavis (Religious Scholars) pass out from these Arabic Colleges from time to time. They come from different parts of the island and follow his footsteps according to the Sunnath Wal-Jama’ath doctrine. He was a follower of the Qadiriyya and Refa’iyya thareeqas (Religious Order).

He passed away on 22, Safar in 1996 in India. May Allah guide us to emulate him.
