News 650 bottles of liquor surreptitiously released from SATHOSA

According to informed sources, a top official of SATHOSA had surreptitiously released a stock of 650 liquor bottles, despite ongoing travel restrictions. The stock of 250 bottles of liquor had been officially released to the Army Camp in Galnewa from the SATHOSA branch in Anuradhapura early this month.

These sources claimed that though the initial stock of 250 liquor bottles had been released to the Army camp officially, 650 liquor bottles had been released surreptitiously and that a probe was underway to get to the bottom of the incident.

Although an order has been issued to the SATHOSA Regional Manager of Anuradhapura to submit an audit report through the SATHOSA head office regarding the incident, it was yet to be received. Sources revealed that the Regional Manager in question is to be sent on a punishment transfer over his actions.

A new Manager will carry out a fresh audit inquiry in this connection, sources added. It is further reported that subject Minister Bandula Gunawardene had informed the SATHOSA Chairman to initiate a prompt inquiry into the incident and had alerted the Raids Unit to commence an investigation as the initial complaint had not been properly lodged.
