47,430 postal vote applications rejected
The Election Commission (EC) said that out of the total number of postal vote applications received for the upcoming General Election, 47,430 postal vote applications were rejected due to various reasons.
The EC noted that it received a total of 753,037 applications, and that only 705,085 applications were accepted.
The EC added that many of the rejected applications were from public officials who will not be deployed for official duties during the General Election.
While some applications were rejected due to inadequate and inaccurate information, some were rejected due to the same person submitting two postal vote applications from two workplaces.
However, the EC stated that applications submitted by officials performing election duties were not rejected.
