45 people to be compensated for damage

A committee created by Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila has set aside Rs. 1,933,000 to reimburse 45 people who were affected by Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery’s furnace oil overflow during the recent floods. The committee led by Senior Manager of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Y.B.M. Priyankara was given fourteen days to submit a damage report with regard to the oil overflow. The Energy Minister was presented the report yesterday (21). The committee had visited Walahena and Pattiwila to assess the damage to crops, homes, and water supplies.
