News 42nd National Youth  Awards today

The 42nd National Youth Awards, jointly organised by the Youth & Sports Ministry and the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) will be held today (Friday, 26 November) under the patronage of Minister Namal Rajapaksa at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Indoor Theatre.

In this event, selected  ‘short’ and ‘long’ drama in both Sinhala and Tamil  young dramatists versed in aesthetic skills from islandwide who have performed well in singing, acting, dancing, prose, and verse will win awards. More than 130 young dramatists, artistes, and literary figures competed under 45 categories will be recognised at this event.

‘Youth Film Awards Festival’ organised for the 9th time, assessing the works of upcoming cinematographers, islandwide has also been included in this awards ceremony.

A segment of this event is the ‘Thurunu Shakthi’ Next Generation-Reality Show presented by the NYSC.

Among the others who will be present at this event are Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara, State Ministers of Rural and School Sports Infrastructure Development, National Heritage, Performing Arts and Rural Arts Promotion and Urban Development, Waste Disposal and Community Cleanliness Thenuka Vidanagamage, Vidura Wickramanayake and Nalaka Godahewa, NYSC Chairman/Director General Damitha Wickramasinghe and Ministry Secretary Anuradha Wijekoon.
