2nd edition of LPL to be held from 04-23 December

The 2nd edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from 04 to 23 December with the same five teams which played in the first edition. The tournament was set to commence from 29 July, but was postponed to 19 November before rescheduling to 4 December. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced yesterday commencement of the Overseas Player Registration Process for the 2nd Edition of LPL starts today.
The players can register their names via the registration portal established at the www.sri lankacricket.lk on or before 12.00 pm on 5 October, where all registered players will be included in the LPL Player Draft based on their eligibility. All Overseas Players entering the LPL Player Draft should have represented their respective National Team, or played First-Class cricket, or should have taken part in a major T20 franchise-based cricket in full member board tournaments.
The players should also be recognized by the respective cricket boards. A team can comprise a squad of 20 players, which would include 14 local and 06 overseas players. The inaugural edition of the LPL reportedly reached a cumulative audience of 557 million people through TV, digital social space and traditional media outlets. The tournament was played in a biosecure bubble at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota from 26 November to 16 December 2020, where Jaffna Stallions emerged champions
