265 curfew violators arrested

Police have arrested 265 persons for violating curfew regulations since first imposed on 4 October, until 17 October. Out of this number, 53 persons had been arrested during the past 48 hours for violating curfew regulations imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Police Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana, said a majority of the arrests were made in the Seeduwa, Gampaha and Dompe Police divisions. He said 48 vehicles were also impounded.
“Curfew will continue indefinitely in 19 Police divisions. Eight vehicles have been seized during the past 48 hours,” he said, adding that 17 October was the day on which Police arrested the highest number of curfew violators, since 4 October.
