25 staff members of Parliament directed to self-quarantine
Twenty-five staff members of Parliament have been directed to self-quarantine.
This decision has been taken after a Police officer attached to Parliament’s Police intelligence unit tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Parliament’s Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando, PCR tests have been conducted on two close contacts of the COVID-19 infected person in question, and they have tested negative for COVID-19.
Based on their test results, health authorities have informed that there is no need to conduct PCR tests on other officials of Parliament, and therefore, they have been directed to self-quarantine, he added.
