2,513 arrested, 48 positive to COVID-19

Police Media Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said of 2,513, persons who were apprehended for not wearing face masks in the Western Province, 48 have contracted COVID- 19.

On 5 January, search operations were conducted, in this regard, in the Western Province. PCR and Rapid Antigen tests were performed on individuals who did not wear face masks during these operations, where they were diagnosed with the virus.

Judicial action will be taken against them in the future.
