15 MPs request Speaker to protect freedom of speech
Fifteen Members of the Opposition handed over a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament, requesting him to protect the freedom of speech, lives, and the privileges of every member of the Parliament. The letter was handed over to the Speaker yesterday (13).
The letter requests Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to protect the rights and the freedom of speech of MPs, citing statements made by the President and several MPs.
The 15 MPs include Rajitha Senaratne, M.H.A. Haleem, Vadivel Suresh, Nalin Bandara Jayamaha, Kings Nelson, Manusha Nanayakkara, Sujith Sanjaya Perera,S.M. Marikkar, Eran Wickramaratne, Tissa Attanayake, Rishad Bathiudeen and Velu Kumar.
