The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has begun preliminary discussions with Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX about the introduction of Starlink internet services.

TRCSL tweeted: “Preliminary engagement was initiated with SpaceX in exploring the introduction of Starlink Internet Services in @SriLanka and the first round of discussions focused on regulatory aspects and prerequisites of initiating the service in the near future for Sri Lanka #Lka#trcsl”.

Starlink is a global provider of high-speed, low-latency broadband internet. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis within each coverage area. Starlink, which uses advanced satellites in a low orbit, enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities that were previously not possible with satellite internet.
