SL to cooperate with UN for sustainable peace, development
Foreign minister Prof. G.L. Peiris has said that Sri Lanka would continue to cooperate with the United Nations in order to achieve sustainable peace and development.
That will be line with the international obligations that Sri Lanka has voluntarily undertaken, he has told visiting UN assistant secretary general for political, peace building and peace operations, Khaled Khiari.
At a meeting on 23 November, they discussed progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Sri Lanka.
Peiris outlined the recent progress made in domestic processes in relation to reconciliation and human rights.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, that included the proposed revisions to the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
Peiris also reiterated the Government’s commitment to achieving tangible progress.
