Sports SL edge England to take 2-1 series lead

In a low scoring game, Sri Lanka beat England by 2 wickets in the third Youth ODI at the SSC yesterday to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

England won the toss and electing to bat were bowled out for a below par 114 runs in 34.3 overs. Rehan Ahamed (19), Alex Horton (18), James Coles (16), Tom Prest (13) and James Sales (13) helped to build their inning. Skipper Dunith Wellalage claimed 3 wickets for 13 runs, while Traveen Mathew, Raveen De Silva and Yasiru Rodrigo claimed 2 wickets each.

Sri Lanka reached the target in 44 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Anjala Bandara (29), Dunith Wellalage (18), Pawan Pathiraja (17) and Yasiru Rodrigo (12*) made useful contributions to help reach the target. Thomas Aspinwall and Rehan Ahamed claimed 2 wickets each.

The 4th game is on the 8th (Wednesday) at the SSC.
