SL could reopen on 1 Oct with some curbs – Rambukwella
The country could reopen on 1 October with certain limits, according to Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who added the final decision will be made by health experts.
He made this comment to the Media following an event at the Base Hospital in Nawalapitiya, and noted that for the time being, they hope to open the country on 1 October, but the meeting on 30 September will make the final decision.
Noting a substantial drop in COVID-19 instances, he claimed that they have been keeping a close check on the COVID-19 situation in the country and advised the public to uphold the health regulations once the lockdown is removed.
“Moreover, Sri Lanka is among the top four countries that have been able to vaccinate the majority of its population,” he emphasised, adding that attempts to ameliorate the current pandemic scenario have been mainly effective. He urged people to do their share to assist put the situation under control, saying that the health sector is trying its best.
