Sajith questions Govt

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa asked the Government why it decided to prioritise foreigners over Sri Lankan citizens, following its decision to allow tourist arrivals, amidst strict travel restrictions islandwide. “Foreigners are being allowed to visit tourism destinations such as Yala National Park under tourist bio- bubble system.
Even during the initial stages of the pandemic, they advertised and allowed tourist visits when all other countries closed their borders to tourists,” charged Premadasa.
He also mentioned about how the Government allowed Ukrainian tourists to ignore quarantine regulations during the second wave of the pandemic. “The authorities are trying to open doors to a new strain of COVID-19 virus by allowing tourists into the country, especially when many countries such as UK and USA request their citizens to refrain from visiting Sri Lanka,” added Premadasa.
