Rs 85B budget allocation to develop EP - Viyalenderan

Backward Rural Areas Development State Minister Sathasivam Viyalenderan said sufficient funds have been allocated in the Budget 2022 to develop the Eastern Province similar to other Provinces. He said it has been decided to spend every cent to develop the Province.
Viyalenderan said Rs 85 billion has been allocated in the Budget 2022 to develop backward rural areas in the country. It is intended to use these funds to alleviate poverty at village level and to raise the living and economic conditions of the rural community by implementing a large number of rural infrastructure as well as livelihood development projects at a cost of millions of rupees.
Viyalenderan was confident that with these funds tremendous development could be conducted in the Province next year.
Moves are underway to set up more industrial parks in the Province making a huge investment with the participation of local and foreign investors.
Through such mechanisms, unemployment issues among educated young men and women could be addressed, Viyalenderan added.
