Local Prime suspect among 100 detained over Priyantha Kumara killing

Pakistani authorities are detaining as many as 100 suspects over the lynching of Sri Lankan factory manager Priyantha Kumara in Sialkot yesterday (03).

They include a prime suspect in the killing, identified as Farhan Idrees, whose images have been shared by a special assistant to prime minister Imran Khan.

The man is seen behind bars and while committing the crime.

Law enforcement authorities in Punjab have drafted a team of 10 and launched a search to identify the perpetrators, stressing that they would investigate "all aspects".

In the gruesome footages of the incident floating across the social media, workers of the private factory were seen brutally attacking the Sri Lankan manager of Rajco Industries.

They later burnt his body and overturned the wreckage of what appears to be his car and took selfies in front of his burning corpse.

The unruly mob then vandalized the factory and blocked traffic.

Geo TV reported that Kumara was a "hardworking and honest" production manager.

Premier Khan termed the torturing and burning of Kumara by a mob as a shameful day for Pakistan and announced that he was personally overseeing the probe.

Sri Lanka’s high commission in Islamabad is in the process of verifying the details of the incident from Pakistani authorities, as Sri Lanka also demanded stern action from Pakistan.
