People waiting to confront Govt – Sajith
By Nabiya Vaffoor
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has stated that he does not want anyone in the Government to teach him how to talk about people's problems, and that the people are waiting for the opportunity to confront the Government, which has deceived 6.9 million people in this country. He said some members of the Government are now admitting that they were wrong and that there is only deception of the country’s people.
“Everything the Government does is a Media circus. This Government is constantly turning a blind eye to farmers’ demands. Currently, millions of farming families are helpless in the country and the Government is unconcerned.
The current government, which visited Anuradhapura during the last Presidential Election, promised free fertiliser, but the Government has broken their promise to visit the sacred site.
The Government did not care about the needs of the locals, but when foreign representatives suggested Provincial Council Elections, they tried to hold them,” he added. Premadasa paid a visit to the Rangiri Rajamaha Viharaya in Nochchiyagama before attending the ‘Govi Hadagasma’ programme yesterday (10) in Nochchiyagama, Anuradhapura. The Opposition Leader then met local farmers.
Rohana Bandara, Anuradhapura District Parliamentarian, former Minister Chandrani Bandara, former Minister P. Harrison, and a group of people’s representatives were also present.
