Pavithra asks Treasury Rs 1.9B
Transport Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has urged the Treasury to grant her Ministry an additional sum of Rs 1,912 million towards the payment of salaries of SLTB employees for the months of November and December.
The Minister had made this overture to the Treasury due to there being a disparity between revenue and expenses to the tune of Rs. 1684 million.
Wanniarachchi had informed the Treasury that for reasons such as the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic as well as due to commuters having to undergo health guidelines when travelling on public transport, SLTB had not been able to operate its quota of buses this year resulting in the aforementioned disparity in costs.
