Pakistan thrash India by 10 wickets
Skipper Babar Azzam led from the front while Mohammad Rizwan went strong as Pakistan sealed an emphatic ten wickets victory over arch rivals India in their T20 World Cup opener played in Dubai yesterday. This is Pakistan's first World Cup win over India be it T20 or ODI. Playing in front of a packed crowd in the most anticipated match of the series, skipper Azzam leading his first senior India-Pakistan match kept a cool head while guiding the chase, as they mowed down India’s tally of 151 in 17.5 overs without losing a wicket.
Azzam made an unbeaten 68 off 52 with two sixes and four fours, while Rizwan smashed three sixes and six fours in his 55 delivery 79 as India had no answer to the youngsters from smashing to every corner of Dubai stadium. Earlier, Shaheen Shah Afridi hit back by removing both openers Rohith Sharma (0) and K.L. Rahul (3), but skipper Virat Kohli kept things going with 57 off 49, while Rishab Pant scored 39 off 36 and holding the inning together with their 53 run stand for the fourth wicket, and ended up scoring a respectable 151 for 7.
