Nominations to five Commissions approved

The Parliamentary Council yesterday (3), approved President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s nominations to the National Election Commission (NEC), the Public Service Commission (PSC), the National Police Commission (NPC), the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
Accordingly, the current Legal Adviser of EC, Nimal Punchihewa, will chair the EC while M.M. Mohamed, Gunapala Wickramage, Jeevan Thyagarajah and K.P.P. Pathirana will serve as Members.
The three-Members of CIABOC are former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Eva Wanasundera, retired Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Deepali Wijesundera and former Director of the State Intelligence Service, Chandra Nimal Wakishta.
Jagath Balasuriya will chair HRCSL and the Members are Vijitha Nanayakkara, Chandana Udawatta, Harsha Nawaratne and Kumari Balalla.
Retired SC Judge, Justice Jagath Balapatabendi will chair the PSC. The other Members are Indrani Sugathadasa, Leelasena Liyanagama, Dr. T.R.C. Ruberu, Dian Gomes, W.H. Piyadasa, Dilith Jayaweera, Hema Dharmawardena and Nimal Karunasiri.
Retired IGP Chandra Fernando will Chair the NPC and Members will be S. Liyanagama, Sanjeewa Pathirana, M.S.M. Samsudeen and Premasiri Fernando.
