MPs Hesha and Wijesiri quit organiser posts

SJB MP Hesha Withanage, who resigned from his organiser post with his colleague Chaminda Wijesiri on Monday (25), said they decided to quit to make the SJB Leader and General Secretary aware of certain “conspirators” who are disrupting party activities. Speaking at a Media briefing yesterday (26), Withanage said there is no point in holding onto a position if they cannot address concerns of the people in their electorates.
Withanage and Wijesiri were SJB organisers in Rathnapura and Badulla electorates respectively. He also added that the conspirators who are internally pulling the party down have turned their back to even Party Leader Sajith Premadasa’s decision to assign an electoral position to former MP Jayatissa Ranaweera.
“Former MP Jayatissa Ranaweera joined our party recently and the party promised him an electoral position. But some conspirators worked against decisions of the Party Leader,” he said. Withanage also said they had brought this to the attention of the General Secretary and the Party Leader to prevent the SJB from becoming another UNP.
“These are internal issues and that is why we did not want to involve the Media. But the conspirators used this opportunity and revealed internal facts to the Media for their own gain without even considering confidentiality of the party. There are conspirators who were in the UNP previously and pulled that party down and now the UNP is a failed party. The remaining UNP members have also splintered and have started different groups.
They are attacking each other internally. If Sajith Premadasa doesn’t take action against them, it will affect the party’s future,” Withanage added. Responding to a request by a journalist to reveal the conspirators in the SJB, the MP said he is confident that Premadasa will solve these internal issues in two weeks. If not, Withanage vowed to expose them.
