Monday Markets: Indices close in green

Continuing from last week, the Colombo Bourse started off the week on a positive note, breaking the norm of taking a subdued note in lieu of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Bartleet Religare Securities stated.

 Price gains on EXPO, HAYL, DIST,VONE and RCL saw the ASPI and S&P SL20 close the day 100.01 points and 44.08 points higher.

RCL was the top contributor to turnover of ~15% while collective inter-est on RCL, JKH, EXPO, HAYL and DIPD contributed to 58% of turnover on Monday. Interest on JKH was spurred by four negotiated deals on the stock, contributing LKR 199 million. BIL topped the volume list with a contribution of 30%.

Foreigners were net sellers of LKR 507 million, with foreign selling amounting to  15% of turnover. JKH saw the highest outflow for the day of LKR 476 million. Price gainers outnumbered price losers 130 to 45.
