Sports Ian Bishop commends SL’s bowling attack

Former West Indian fast bowler turned commentator Ian Bishop has commended Sri Lanka’s bowling attack at the men’s T-20 World Cup.

He has said on air, “This is a serious bowling attack that sends a message to the rest of the teams in the tournament,” after seeing how they demolished the Netherlands.

The pace trio Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara are in brilliant form.

The spin bowling duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana have dominated, sharing 14 wickets between them.

However, Theekshana will be rested for today’s game against Bangladesh following a side strain he sustained during his game against the Netherlands.

Akila Dananjaya is expected to come in.

Further, Bishop reckons that there isn’t just one contender for winning the T20 World Cup trophy and added that it could be anyone’s trophy this time.

The warm-up games have been so far very intense, and nothing has been predictable, which has kept the tournament interesting, he said.
