Day of shame for Pakistan - Imran Khan on Sialkot mob attack
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has condemned the lynching of a Sri Lankan worker in Sialkot, Pakistan this morning (03).
"The horrific vigilante attack on factory in Sialkot & the burning alive of Sri Lankan manager is a day of shame for Pakistan. I am overseeing the investigations & let there be no mistake all those responsible will be punished with full severity of the law. Arrests are in progress," he tweeted.
Videos of the incident circulating on social media have sparked outrage amongst people.
The victim has been identified as Priyantha Kumara, General Manager of Rajco Industries.
A mob of workers from the factory he was employed at had attacked him over alleged blasphemy.
The Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka says it expects that Pakistani authorities will take the required action to investigate and ensure justice and the Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad is in the process of verifying the details of the incident from the Pakistan authorities.
