News Coastguard saves five Russian tourists

The Sri Lanka Coastguard saved five Russian tourists from drowning in two successful attempts that took place on two consecutive days to Sunday (28).

The incidents took place at Hikkaduwa and Bentota respectively, while the five Russians saved comprised two females aged 21 and 45 and three males of ages 22, 25 and 26 respectively.

The Coastguard, an adjunct of the Defence Ministry, since their participation in lifesaving duties from 2009 has saved 1,603 including 713 foreigners, so far.
