Cardinal Ranjith promised Pope’s solidarity
Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith says Pope Francis has written to him expressing solidarity with his efforts to seek justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The Cardinal said so during a video conference he had yesterday (23) with Sri Lankans living in Europe.
He said the Pontiff’s letter, dated 19 September and in his own handwriting, was in response to a letter sent by him earlier.
Cardinal Ranjith quoted excerpts from the Pope’s letter, which read, “This situation makes me very sad. I promise to pray more and I remain ready to do whatever you consider opportune. Tomorrow I will speak with the Secretary of State about it. Please count on me and indicate what would be best to be done from here.”
The Cardinal has maintained the investigations into the 2019 April 21st attacks were politicized.
