Bangladesh U-19 to tour SL for limited-over series in October

Sri Lanka Cricket are set to host the Bangladesh Under-19 team for a limited-over series starting midOctober, SLC confirmed through a media release. Bangladesh Juniors are scheduled to reach Sri Lanka on 7 October and the first youth ODI will be held on 15 October.

The remaining matches of the series will take place on 18, 20, 23 and 25 October respectively. However, the venue of the series hasn’t been decided yet. The Sri Lanka Under-19 team is currently undergoing a residential training programme in Colombo focusing on their next assignments. 

“The upcoming series will give the U-19 team an opportunity to play international cricket after a while, and help us work on finding the right combination to play in the U-19 World Cup in 2022,” said Avishka Gunawardene, the newly appointed coach of the Sri Lanka Under-19 team. 

Avishka Gunawardene (Head Coach), Mahinda Halangode (Manager), Upul Chandana (Fielding Coach), Sachith Pathirana (Spin Bowling Coach), Chamila Gamage (Fast Bowling Coach) and Dhammika Sudarshana (Batting Coach), are currently working with the squad focusing on the U-19 World Cup to be held in 2022. In addition, Priyantha Wickremesinghe (Physiotherapist) and Buddhika Herath (Trainer) are also working with the squad. (MS)
